Welcome to Sample Thoughts

A sample is a small part or quantity intended to show what the whole is like. A thought is an idea or opinion produced by thinking or occurring suddenly in the mind. So, a ‘sample thought’ is a small part of an idea or opinion produced by thinking or occurring suddenly in the mind that is intended to show what the whole idea or mind is like.

Sample thoughts are like the samples handed out at Sam’s Club: Previews of the flavors and textures of a full serving. The beauty of samples is that if one is not to your liking, you may proceed without having lost much time or energy; and if you do enjoy it, there’s more where it came from.

Sample Thoughts is a reservoir for my musings.

When an idea or pattern is living rent-free in my mind, I will write about it here. All essays should be considered “working papers” and “subject to change” as new connections between ideas and across fields form. In other words, sample thoughts are not final thoughts. Take them with a (large) pinch of salt.
